Eat a Peach!

By The Taste for Life Staff
A basket of fresh organic peaches.

At around 50 calories per medium-sized fruit, peaches offer many nutritional benefits. They contain fiber and 10 different vitamins. They are especially rich in the antioxidant vitamins A, C, and E. These antioxidants help scavenge free radicals and may help ward off cancer and reduce inflammation.

Peaches are often a healthy snack choice for people with liver ailments such as hepatitis C. Peaches contain a high amount of potassium, which helps maintain a healthy blood pressure. Chlorogenic acid, found in the skin and flesh of peaches, helps neutralize free radicals.

How to Soften a Peach

If you bought your peaches a bit too firm, place them on a countertop at room temperature. To soften the fruit more quickly, place them in a brown paper bag first. Once soft, you can store the fruit in the fridge.

Awesome Peach Flavor

To truly enjoy a peach's flavor, you should let the fruit sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before consuming. It will be the perfect flavor and texture!
